I have been in the dental field since 1998. My main concern is patient comfort. I treat every patient as if I am treating myself or a family member. My goal is to create a connection and a positive experience for each and every patient. I have been living in California since 1972. I lived in NYC for my dental schooling but this is my home. I love going to the beach and hiking with my wife. I want to be a positive force in the lives of the people I meet. I try to improve every day and I am mindful of making every moment count.
Dr. Moya is a native Angeleno who grew up in the east San Gabriel Valley and its environs, living for a number of years in New Jersey and New York while pursuing his undergraduate and graduate studies at Rutgers and NYU. He has been practicing dentistry since 2007. Dr. Moya's aim is to cultivate a systematic and reasoned approach to dentistry, delivering an end product that is altogether long-lasting, stable and beautiful, and--perhaps most importantly--exceeds your expectations. An amateur violinist with a particular interest in Baroque and other early music, he is the founder of the @voxsaeculorum composer's association and served as composer-in-residence for the Long Beach-based Kontrapunktus Baroque Ensemble from 2016 to 2018.
My name is Dr. Zach Ward, and I am excited to be coming back to the bay area after a few years away. I graduated from La Cañada High School in 2008, after which I received my Bachelor’s of Science degree from Brigham Young University in Economics. Toward the end of my time there, I discovered that I did not want a career in economics. A family friend invited me to his dental practice. I saw a few patients get new smiles, and I knew what I had to do. Four years later, I left the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, D.M.D. degree in hand, and set out to make my way back to Southern California. Dental school provided me with many opportunities to learn and serve in the nearby community. I was privileged to serve as Class President all four years and was able to coordinate service opportunities for classmates throughout the area. While I felt prepared to treat patients upon graduating, I chose to train for an additional year in an Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at UCLA. This past year, I have been working at the UCLA clinic in Venice and gaining valuable experience in a variety of complex treatments, including endodontics, oral surgery, implant placement and restoration, full mouth rehabilitation, and occlusal management to help with chronic TMJ issues. This training has prepared me to serve you with the highest standard of dental care available to patients today. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Kate, and our three children, Henry (5), Benjamin (3), and Grace (born May 2021). I am and always have been an avid Dodgers, Lakers, and UCLA fan (but will not hold it against anyone for being a Trojans fan). I am thrilled with the opportunity to be a part of this practice. I have always admired their passion for dentistry, his kindness, and his conservative approach, and I look forward to providing the same service to all of you.

During his residency, he trained alongside surgeons and anesthesiologists in the treatment of a full range of oral and facial treatments and the administration of anesthesia. After completing his specialization, Dr. Agatstein served as an Attending Physician at the Harbor UCLA Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program, training other residents in the practice of Oral Surgery. I am originally from Ojai, where I attended Nordhoff High School. I subsequently completed my undergraduate studies at UCLA before leaving the Southern California sun for the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. After dental school, I elected to stay in beautiful Ann Arbor and continue my training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, as well as complete medical studies at the University of Michigan Medical School. It was during that time, that I met the love of my life, and we started our family. From there, I followed my passion and did a fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery and Pediatric Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh and Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. After finally completing my training, I began practicing in West Michigan, where I have been for the last 10 years. I have focused on dental implants, exodontia, orthognathic surgery, pediatric anesthesia, and cleft lip and palate surgery. I remain faculty at Michigan State University, and was the previous chair of Dentistry and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Spectrum Health System, the largest hospital system in the state of Michigan. I am double board certified by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. I make the promise to all of my patients that no one will be more knowledgeable of the current literature base, and that I will always practice cutting edge, evidence based dentistry and medicine. My patients deserve this. I happily bring with me my amazing wife Kelli, my daughter Colleen, and my son David. We are avid explorers of all that California has to offer, from the amazing hiking trails, to incomparable beaches. We are thrilled to be a part of this amazing community.
I searched online for a good dentist and I found so many of them. I call each number to schedule an appointment but they don’t accept my insurance. Moving forward to my search, I found Zak Dental Downey Office. Setting up appointments was easy and I am glad that they are part of my HMO plan. If you’re looking for a good dentist I will recommend Dr. Moya and his assistant, Roy. Crystal made me feel comfortable, she is very efficient in setting up an appointment.
So hard to find a clinic that will make you comfortable and safe during this hard time. Glad my insurance had Zak Dental in Downey, which is near my area. Though queuing takes patience on both ends, which I have to understand because everyone is new to adapt the system. Virtual check-up went well. Plan, cost, and schedules of procedures are clearly discussed and agreed. Then my turn to undergo the first dental procedure finally came, t’was worth the wait. Professional and friendly. 5 stars for team Downey!
My experience at Zak Dental Downey Office was spectacular! Dr. Zama and his assistant Cielo filled in a gap I had in my right front tooth and my smile has never looked better. I left the office feeling well cared for and satisfied with my overall visit.
